Tet & Traditions

Chinese New Year, or Tet, is one of the most important celebrations in the Asian community. As the day approaches, many families have been preparing by buying Tet flowers, red envelopes, food, and many other Tet items. Yesterday, my family and I went to Asian Garden Mall to walk around and buy flowers to decorate the house. My family has many traditions during Tet week including red envelopes, parties, temples, and visiting the Tet festival. Every year, there is a new Chinese zodiac that is worshipped or celebrated. For example, this year is the year of the monkey and the upcoming year will be the year of the rooster. Tet is one of my favorite celebrations and I will be looking forward to celebrating it, especially right after finals.
